Solving a ratling bracelet

Most of the cheaper watches, or better, affordable watches come with a bad bracelet.

A good bracelet is not cheap, for a decent bracelet you have to think of something between 100 en 200 Euro!

If you buy a Seiko 5 for example, the bracelet is just decent but far from good, it will rattle a bit and it makes all kind of noise while wearing it. For me that always make a watch feel cheap how good the watch might look.

However, there are some very easy ways to make a cheap bracelet feel a lot better.

One solution is a messy one but it works, You take the bracelet from the watch and soak the bracelet in a a bowl with vegetable oil, I recommand oil without strong smell like sunflower oil! Let the bracelet in the oil for about hour and move and bend it a few times so the oil can reach every tiny spot of the bracelet. Take the bracelet from the oil and let it leak till all the oil is gone and clean it further with a cloth.

If all the oils is removed you will find out the bracelet will not rattle anymore and wears a lot better. It will last a few months as long you not use the watch for swimming or showering.

Second, and my favorite way is with wax.

All you need is some pure bee-wax and a cloth. For this method you don;t have to remove the watch from the bracelet. All you have to do is to put a little bee-wax on the whole bracelet en rub it out till it get really soft so it will get between the links. The rest will be done by the warmth of your wrist. Result is perfect but it will last in the summer only a few weeks. But it is a quick fix so in 3 minutes you just add it again if the rattling is back. Same as with oil, if you go swimming of showering you have to do it all again a little rain is no problem.
